SNAP/EBT

Please note: The application for processing SNAP/EBT at the Tuesday market at Athentic is underway. In the meantime, we are only able to process SNAP/EBT at our Saturday market.

What is SNAP?

The Georgia Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formally known as food stamps, is the largest nutrition assistance program administered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). It is a federally-funded program that provides monthly benefits to low-income households to help recipients maintain healthy diets by making relatively expensive items like fresh fruits and vegetables accessible to those with low income.

Anyone may apply for SNAP benefits. The program helps households that have limited income and resources.

How It Works

Wholesome Wave Georgia (WWG) believes that all Georgians should have access to wholesome, locally-grown food. Thanks to our partnership, we are able to offer SNAP/EBT on a variety of foods at the market. Bring your SNAP/EBT card, tell a staff member the amount you choose and then receive DOUBLE that amount in tokens to spend on fresh produce at the Saturday market. That means if you take $10 off your card, the staff will give you $20 in tokens. You can get up to $50 in EBT double each time you visit a market! If you don’t use all of your tokens in one visit, don’t worry, just bring them back and spend them at the same market when you visit again.

Eligibility & How to Apply

SNAP is available for anyone who meets the income requirements. Download the application, fill out and return it to your local Division of Family and Children Services office by mail, fax, or in person. Click here for more information on how to apply for SNAP.
