Founded in 1982, the Land Trust Alliance seeks to double the pace of land
conservation in America. As the national leader of the private land conservation
movement, LTA promotes voluntary land conservation across the country,
provides resources, leadership, and training to the nation's 1,200-plus

Preserving
Family Lands This Web site is designed to help land trusts and
others interested in saving land educate landowners. It contains the
Landowner's quiz that Steven Small uses at Land Trust Alliance rallies
and meetings with individual landowners. The quiz alerts landowners
of the fact that their land is at risk if they do not participate in
tax planning to keep the land in their families. The Web site contains
estate tax tables for each state. Many landowners are unaware of the
fact that their land may have to be sold to pay the Federal and State
estate taxes. The new Web site also contains a synopsis of Preserving
Family Lands: Book I and Preserving Family Lands: Book II. Preserving
Family Lands: Book II covers conservation easements and also includes
estate tax planning and discusses planning for family lands. . Contact
