On Saturday, November 5th, the West Broad Farmers Market hosted its 4th Annual Athens Heritage and Urban Agriculture Festival in conjunction with the Athens Area Black History Committee.
The event celebrated African American history and traditions, particularly those surrounding the West Broad School and urban agriculture. Keynote speaker, Christina Hylton, spoke about the intersection of agriculture and education. Guests participated in round table discussions on the past, present and future of the West Broad Community.
The event also included dance performances, live music, canning and, kids activities, cooking demonstrations, and educational booths.
